Charismatic cat with all the charm of a leading star is up for adoption

A charismatic cat is seeking the spotlight in his forever home.

Jerry, a nine-year-old black and white ‘tuxedo’ cat, is waiting to be adopted from the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Burford. Staff say the feline has all the charm and personality of a leading man and is ready to take centre stage in a loving new home.

Hannah Wiltshire, centre manager at Blue Cross Burford, said: “With a big personality and plenty to say for himself, Jerry has already won us over and we believe he could be the perfect co-star for the right family. If you’re looking for a cat who will happily follow you around the house, chat about his day with cheerful meows and chirps, and make sure you never forget when it’s time for his next meal, then Jerry could be the cat of your dreams.”

Blue Cross staff think Jerry would thrive in a home that includes adults and teenagers and offers routine and consistency. The team believe he would make a perfect work-from-home companion, observing any meetings like a director overseeing the action.

Ms Wiltshire added: “An active and playful lad, Jerry would love a home where he can explore the outdoors and head off on his own little adventures. When he’s not keeping watch over the neighbourhood—his second favourite pastime—he’s most likely thinking about his number one love: food.”

However, Jerry prefers to be the only cat in the household. Ms Wiltshire said: “He’ll need to be the leading actor in his new home as doesn’t want to share his home with other cats, but he could potentially live with a dog.”

The Blue Cross centre, located on Shilton Road, is also appealing for volunteer foster carers to help care for pets like Jerry while they wait for their forever homes.

Foster carers help look after animals like Jerry on a short-term basis while they wait for permanent homes. Blue Cross provides full training for foster carers and covers all associated costs, including travel.

The charity said: “With the increasing pressures faced by pets and pet owners, we are facing a hidden pet welfare crisis and Blue Cross needs the support of animal lovers to continue its work helping pets and their people, in any way they can.

“Whether that’s by donating to keep rehoming and veterinary services going through these tough times, fundraising for Blue Cross, providing foster care for pets while loving new homes are found, volunteering at pet food banks, or signing up to support Blue Cross campaigns for better pet welfare.”
